Round 2 Models: 2018 off to a good start

It has been a while since I’ve showed a pic like this. It doesn’t show the stacks of boxes and test shots immediately to the right of this view.

In the life of a Round 2 model kit developer, there are ebbs and flows just like in every other job. Sometimes you are working at a breakneck pace to get a release (or several) out on time. Sometimes the work you are doing just isn’t all THAT interesting such as when we are retouching vintage model kit box art or working on assembly instruction sheets (tedious work and the most undervalued part of any kit). And then sometimes, every once and a while, within a week’s time you get deluged with new and exciting stuff to review and comment on and you realize it is all stacked up in one place. So you snap a pick like this one. I’ll be unveiling closer looks at all of this stuff in the coming weeks.

Here’s hoping you, ehem, touch upon the IMC Touch Tone Terror kit a bit. Is that is still planned for a future release at some point?

  2. Robcomet says:

Iā€™m hoping the poster of the Akira class behind the monitor is a hint…

  3. Justin says:

Is there anything in the works from Star Trek: Discovery?

  4. Andrew Lehtola says:

I am guessing the box is not the Hawk kit, but something else? Also, any chance you may release the old Haunted Mansion kits along with the re-released Pirate ones?

  5. Dale Thelander says:

Jamie, where did you learn to paint box art so well?
    (Yeah, I’m jelly.)

Years of practice followed by years of neglect followed by a few cherished opportunities. Each seems to come easier and better than the last, but I guess that is how it is supposed to go…

    That painting needs signing…..

Great artwork !! Can’t wait to get my hands on the Hawk … all three of them (all on pre-order). Keep it up!
By the way, congrats on the 22″ pre-assembled Eagle … it’s a beauty and got me two of them! šŸ™‚

How are the Defiant & Klingon Bird of Prey/Grissom kits coming along?

Any idea when we can expect to see them hit store shelves?

    Keep up the great work!

Personally even though I’m a Trek fan i hope it’s not another Enterprise looking ship. For a start the Akira class doesn’t look that different from the NX-01 and not fussed on the USS Discovery either. They look so similar and not forgetting Moebius is doing yet another typical Enterprise looking ship (2 nacelles and a saucer) the Franklin.

    Let’s have something different.

    Nice Hawk painting btw.

Does Round 2 intend to re-release the 1970’s MPC “Six-Million Dollar Man” kits? Did Round 2 obtain the original molds for those when MPC was acquired?

  14. Barnstormer says:

Looking forward to everything that’s coming! And I had a very enjoyable weekend starting in on the Space 1999 diorama kit, thank you very much!
