Coming off the Shelf – Not What Most Expected

A few weeks ago we posted a teaser on Facebook, and many of our followers thought they had the kit pegged as a reissue of the 1969 Hurst Olds we did just a few years back. We are happy to announce that it is indeed NOT the Hurst Olds, but rather a close relative—the 1969 442 W-30. This classic Olds, though similar to the Hurst, comes with its own set of surprises, including W-30 parts, four pad printed Firestone Wide Oval tires, two pad printed Goodyear Blue Streak drag slicks, and an all new decal sheet with improved (and more accurate) striping and emblem options—all boxed up in a new vintage style package.

Coming to a hobby store near you, and online, this March!

Good choice, I think going in a different direction is great for model builders and for Round 2. This should do well! I would like to see in the same vein a revision to the 69 GTX tool and do a 70 GTX or RoadRunner, same for the 71 Charger tool and do a fresh 71GTX or Road Runner. While all the freshened up reissues are welcomed it would be nice to see kits that haven’t been done before! Keep them coming guys!

Other than the new tires & decals, this isn’t a “different direction” or a revision of the 69 Hurst Olds. MOP/Ertl actually did the 442 prior to the H/O, & before Ertle retired the MPC name. Those were the last kits released under MPC, (save Ertl doing some in the “Buyer’s Choice” reissue series), as Ertle dropped the MPC name, until Round2 resurrected the brand.

BTW, the above comments aren’t a knock against this reissue. It’s an extremely nice kit & worthy of this reissue. I do wish it had been reissued in an MPC 1969 style annual box, rather than the AMT one.
