Polar Lights Model Kits: Klingon K’t’inga instruction revisions

UPDATE [4/1/2019]: Links have been repaired.

We have gotten an amazing reaction to our 1:350 Scale Klingon K’t’inga kit, and we want to thank everyone for all of the accolades. As with any new product, a few minor problems were brought to light and we will work on correcting them in future production runs. One of the biggest things seemed to pertain to the instruction sheets for both the kit and lighting set. That is something we can correct and share now with everyone that has already bought the kits.

Feel free to pass along these download links to friends that have the kit. We have already gotten positive feedback on the revisions already. Hopefully, this helps everyone.

    Two notes:
    1. The links are switched (kit instructions link opens up lighting inst & vv)
    2. It would be really useful to have the kit instructions in 8-1/2 x 11 or 14″ multipage format.

    Hi
Thank you again for this wonderful model of the Klingon K’tinga Battle cruiser . It was worth the wait . I would just like to make one constructive point to this whole project . Could you please add photo-etch engine grills to your photo-etch parts in the K’tinga light set ? This is an essential detail that would not take up too much room on the photo-etch set. This would mean your customers do not have to go to the aftermarket to buy engine grills .

    Kind regards Alan

The engine detail of the TMP K’t’inga doesn’t lend itself to PE. I’m not sure what we could add here. Whenever we get around to modifying the kit into the ST6 version, we will iinclude kit parts that allow the engines to be more fully lit like that ship was. We feel beholden to the original filming miniatures and how they looked at the time they were filmed. Everything else is left up to the creativity and resources of modelers.

Saw the 1:2500 Enterprise-D at the local hobby shop this weekend, and I was going to get it…
Until I saw the price. $29.99 for that kit is just too much. Sorry Round 2, but you’ve just priced me out of a Star Trek model.
This kit isn’t even new, it’s just a re-issue with no improvements to the kit itself, and the full body decals just don’t justify the outrageous price.
And to think, when this kit first released it can with two other Enterprise models, a large stand for all three ships, and… was only $15.99.

    • Charlie D. says:

David E. Might want to take that up the $29.99 with your local hobby shop. Suggested retail is 26.95, and it can often be found online for around $20. Looks like they are adding an additional mark up.

  4. Larry Fugate says:

David E., The main difference in the cost of the kits is time. Comparing the current cost of a model kit to the cost when it first was produced is counter-productive. Inflation, even in today’s economy is still an issue, as are the costs of raw materials, services, and people. I don’t like the higher prices any more than you do, but I understand why they are so, and that’s when I go looking online for a better price.

Hiya! Found this update link (great idea!) but now says 404 error not found? Any update to the link? Love the products, just keen to see what the new instructions recommend?

    Best regards, Kieran

  6. James says:

The links are dead, both give a 404 Not Found response.

  7. Anonymous says:

The pdf links for instructions are both broken

  8. Charlie D. says:

Any plans for a blog update on the soon to be released Discovery models?

  9. J.O. says:

Great to hear the K’Tinga’s been a success. Jamie you’ve gotta do a Nostromo as your next big kit.

  10. fortress says:

Hey a big question is since you have done the movie version
of the Klingon Battle Cruiser will you be doing a TOS version
    in the same scale?
